South Asheville will be the first location outside of North Florida to get a Cantina Louie, a swanky little Mexican street food spot. Jason Sharpe, an Asheville native and close friend of the originator of Cantina Louie, loved the concept so much he wanted to bring the flavors and vibe to Asheville. Bright colors and murals fill the space that was once occupied by CharBar 7. Opening this week, stop on by to find authentic street food favorites like Elotes and homemade Tamales and pair them with one of their signature drinks. Cantina Louie is now open. Sounds like a perfect spot for our next girls night out!

The Chupacabra, The Yeti, The Fat Elvis… no, these are not the nicknames of Jess’s ex-boyfriends but are in fact unique flavored lattes made and sold at 10th Muse Coffee. The unique coffee shop located in Biltmore Village is also known for their list of “break-from-the-norm” avocado toasts. But this story is not about a smashed green fruit smeared on crispy warm bread, nor about their recently celebrated 1-year anniversary… no, this story is about, MINI-DOUGHNUTS. That’s right, starting this week you can now get fresh, MADE TO ORDER, red velvet, devil’s chocolate cake or vanilla mini-doughnuts with your choice of toppings. Visit 10th Muse now to eat all the doughnuts.

Now we have a real feel good story for you all. Ashevillians can proudly say there is just something special about our city. Well now, chef Steven Goff of Aux Bar just made our favorite city even more special. Chef Goff is selling wooden nickels for $5 each to customers at Aux Bar. What’s so special about wooden nickels you ask? Well, customers who purchase the nickels can give them to homeless folks or anyone in need of a meal. Right? Incredible. Recipients can then take the nickel back to the restaurant with no questions asked and exchange it for a warm meal. These wooden nickels are a regular menu item now and can be purchased at Aux Bar on North Lexington Ave. Way to be a leader, chef Goff.
